Job Summary: The successful candidate should have extensive working experience in the Retail/Wholesale Food Business to oversee operations and staffing for the meat department. The successful candidate will supervise a team of butchers, cutters and packers, ensuring that the range of cuts available meets the customers’ demands whilst ensuring minimum wastage and to drive the department’s sales/profitability. The successful candidate will manage the meat department’s operations, suggest changes to inventory and pricing, and purchases supplies when needed and monitors the quality of meat products.

Roadtown Wholesale Trading Limited is currently seeking a dynamic individual with previous experience for the role of Retail Cook to work in a Central Kitchen with a team of cooks and kitchen assistants.

This individual must be willing to perform the following duties:

  • Work closely with the Kitchen Supervisor.
  • Must be able to cook unattended ensuring that the correct ingredients are used and the food is consistent and meets customer expectations.
  • Prepare food for service (i.e. butchering meat, chopping vegetables, preparing sauces).
  • Cook dishes in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Ensure food comes out in a timely and high-quality fashion.
  • Comply with nutrition, sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Recommend improvements to recipes as necessary.
  • Assist in reviewing daily/weekly menu and new product developments.
  • Make recommendations to enhance the performance of the Kitchen.
  • Monitor the level of purchases and sales and assist with inventory control.
  • Reduce write offs/wastage.
  • Stock inventory.
  • Ensure cleaning routines are established and maintained according to local Health and Safety standards.
