In April 1961, at a time when Tourism, the BVIs leading industry, was essentially non-existent, RTW had its humble beginnings in small rented premises in Road Town. In 1963 RTW purchased its first cargo vessel, the M.V. Kilros, through which it was able to extend its services to the island of Virgin Gorda selling directly from this "floating store". After years
of steady growth, the company built its first warehouse in 1970, on the
site which is now the RTW Cash and Carry. A merger in 1975 led to the
building of further warehouse facilities that now are the premises for
our flagship Riteway store. Since 1977, RTW has operated its own retail
supermarket chain, called Riteway Foodmarkets, which boasts convenient
locations on the island of Tortola. This service is enhanced by two wholesale
outlets, one in Virgin Gorda, that provide an excellent distribution network. |
